Parental Consent Agreement

By completing the consent step on Roma, you agree to this agreement. It’s short on purpose. The longer disclosure is in the COPPA Notice; the complete privacy practices are in the Privacy Policy.

1. Who you are

You are the parent or legal guardian of the child whose name and age you entered. You are at least 18 years old. You have legal authority to consent to this child’s use of Roma. You verified this by holding a $0 charge on a credit card in your name.

You consent to Roma’s collection and use of:

  • The kid’s first name and age (you provided these).
  • The kid’s companion choice (shape, color, name).
  • The kid’s PIN (hashed at rest).
  • Every chat message between the kid and the companion.
  • AI-generated memory summaries of those chats, used to give the companion continuity.
  • Safety classifications generated by a separate AI model on every kid message.
  • Streak count and last-chat date.

You consent to those messages being processed by Roma’s named sub-processors (listed in the COPPA Notice §4) for the sole purposes of running the companion, generating the morning brief, detecting safety concerns, and improving Roma in aggregate.

You consent to receive email from Roma about your kid’s morning brief and any safety escalations Roma flags. You consent to Roma contacting you by phone or SMS only if you’ve added a phone number (currently optional, not on by default).

3. What you do NOT consent to (and we do not do)

  • We do not sell your kid’s data, share it with advertisers, or use it for behavioural profiling.
  • We do not train AI models on your kid’s messages.
  • We do not collect photos, voice, location, contacts, or health data from your kid.
  • We do not share your kid’s data with anyone other than the named sub-processors, except as required by law.

4. Your rights

At any time you can review, refuse further collection of, or delete your kid’s data — see Privacy Policy §5 and the Parent Rights Center at /parent/me/data.

You can revoke this consent at any time. Revocation deletes the kid’s account (after a 30-day restore window, then permanent) and ends Roma’s collection. You don’t need a reason.

5. When this takes effect

This agreement takes effect when you complete the VPC step. It remains in effect until you revoke it or terminate the account.

We may update this agreement. Material changes require fresh consent — we won’t silently change what you agreed to. You will see a banner and be asked to re-consent before the next kid-message collection.

6. Governing law and dispute resolution

This agreement is governed by the same law and disputes are resolved by the same procedure as the Roma Terms of Service §14 — the law nearest to your country of residence. The default is (a) DIFC law and the DIFC Courts for GCC residents, since Roma is operated from the UAE. For other regions: (b) Delaware law and JAMS arbitration for US residents (with a carve-out for claims brought by or on behalf of a minor where local law makes an arbitration agreement with a minor unenforceable); (c) Irish law and EU/UK court jurisdiction for EU/UK residents.
